#100 Walpole

Milestone accomplished = 100 walks down, only 251 more to go!

We chose to walk in Walpole for #100 since it was the 100th town in Massachusetts.  Incorporated in 1724, it was settled in 1659.  In fairness to Walpole, Holliston has identical dates so both towns are "tied" for 100.  Since we visited Holliston already (#86) we headed to Walpole.

United Church in Walpole stems from the original Congregational church required by the Puritans in the Massachusetts Bay Colony.   This structure was built in 1783, and was actually moved to its current location on the town green in 1839.

* To get to Walpole for #100, we used the date of incorporation as the first date, then the date of settlement as a tiebreaker.  This information is available on the Massachusetts Secretary of State's website.
