# 105 - Hancock

The town of Hancock, MA contains 1/3 of the border between Massachusetts and New York.  It's a long narrow town, only 3 miles across with less than a thousand residents is nestled in the Berkshire Mountains.

Hancock Shaker Village is a notable spot to visit.  The village was founded in the 1780's by the Shakers, and although they have since died out, the farm continues as part of a living history museum.  The Round Stone Barn is the centerpiece.  It has 4 concentric rings including: 1) ventilation (innermost), 2) Hay storage, 3) Shaker brothers distributing hay to 4) Cow ring and milking.  During our visit on Valentines Day, the village was having an outdoor open visit.  We'd like to go back again sometime when we could go inside the buildings and see the gardens growing.  The animals were fun in to see in the snow!
