#108 - Danvers
Danvers was originally known as Salem Village. Salem is known for the 1692 Salem Witch Trials. Rebecca Nurse was one of those wrongly accused (and killed) during that hysteria. Her homestead is located here in Danvers. It was quite snowy there when we visited in February 2021. The 28 acre homestead is open for visitors (with limited hours). In 1752 the town separated from Salem and was named Danvers for a gentleman named Danvers Osborn, who was briefly the governor of the New York Colony. It doesn't seem like Danvers Osborn actually visited Danvers, so naming the town after him seems to be a high honor.
