#180 - 183: Tolland, Sandisfield, Monterrey and Great Barrington

The Berkshire’s Great Barrington (#183) has its own ski resort, Ski Butternut. We enjoyed checking out the ski area summer style, and also explored the thriving downtown. I wanted to see Blue Stone Manor, vacation home of Real Housewives’ Dorinda Medley, but Scott overruled me.
Serene scenes at Tolland State Forest for town #180. We walked the Farmington River Trail, along said Farmington River on a beautiful afternoon. Amazing how much of such a small state is utterly rural.
For town #181, we moved on to Sandisfield. This town of just 915 people is home to Sandisfield State Forest, including West Lake.
Another tiny MA town (961), Monterey (#182) witnessed General Henry Knox (see photo of marker) pass through, bringing the train of cannons from Fort Ticonderoga to Boston in 1776. In 1847, the town was named after the Battle of Monterey from the Mexican-American War.
Scott dropped his keys by accident during this walk and we had to double back to find them (Luckily we did)!
