#214 Fall River - #215 Somerset - #216 Swansea

Fall River (#214) - To say the USS Massachusetts is impressive is an understatement. Commissioned in the 1930’s she fought in WWII in North Africa and saw extensive service in the Pacific (Marshall Islands, Phillipines, Okinawa). There are also other naval vessels, including a submarine, at Battleship Cove. If you watched the movie “Don’t Look Up”, she was setting for the farcical presidential address, given by Meryl Streep, on her deck.
Some of our walks focus on Softball. This walk (#214) in Somerset brought us to the field of a memorable Shrewsbury Vortex win. Heather completed a 6-3-5 double play to win the game against the South County Sea Devils. It was her 2nd to last tournament as a player, and set the Vortex up to win a trophy the following weekend in Lowell.
Swansea (#215) - We took Roscoe, our weekend NEADS dog, to Swansea Town Beach. The beach sits at the north end of Mount Hope Bay. Swansea is the hometown of Warren A. Cole, the founder of my college fraternity, Lambda Chi Alpha. Wish he was around to give him the “secret handshake”
