East Brookfield, New Braintree, Oakham (#227 - #229)

New Braintree (#228) is a small town by the Quabbin with less than a thousand people. They had great cell phone reception though, maybe the result of being the home of the Mass State Police Academy!

#227 - East Brookfield, based on date of incorporation, is the newest/youngest town in MA. It was incorporated in 1920, after splitting off Brookfield. We walked around the local (and new) elementary school and ended at Timberyard Brewing. Fun place with good 🍺 , food, and live music.

Oakham - #229 - Nothing like a huge glacial erratic to make you feel small. Sampson’s Pebble is found along the Mid-State Trail in Oakham, near the Treasue Valley Scout Reservation. The Boulder is 25 feet tall and 40 feet wide.
