Lenox and Richmond (244 and 245)

Lenox (#245) was a favorite walk. The Mount (Edith Wharton’s summer home) had acres of beautifully maintained gardens and trails, which are open to all from dawn to dusk. We stayed in town and enjoyed walking from our Inn to dinner. Tanglewood was another Lenox spot to walk, but it was closed for a private function.
Way out in western MA, bordering NY, is tiny Richmond (#244). Former Governor Deval Patrick lives somewhere in the woods of Richmond. We stopped (and walked) at Hilltop Orchard, which houses Furnace Brook Winery, specializing in fruit wines. This Apple wine was strong, but tasty.
