Stockbridge and Huntington (#242 and #243)

#243 Stockbridge featured a visit to The Naumkeag Estate. We were able to tour the gardens and inside of the “country” home that Mabel Choate bequeathed to the Trustees in 1958. It reminded me of mansions in Newport. It’s a hop skip and a jump from The Red Lion Inn in Stockbridge center.
#242 - Huntington. The north branch of Westfield River passes through Knightville Dam, which we were able to walk across. The dam was constructed in 1941 at a cost of $3.2 M. It is 1,200 feet wide and 160 feet tall. The total capacity of the dam is 16B gallons of water
