#41 - 50 Salisbury, Amesbury, Haverhill, Braintree, Quincy, Randolph, Southborough, Orange, Athol, Petersham

Orange - We hiked to the top of Mt Tully in Orange. Nice trail with views of both Monadnock and Wachusett at the top.
We walked Southborough including private schools St Marks and Fay School. Movie buffs might recognize that this church was part of a setting in the movie Grown Ups.
Quincy is the city of Presidents. John Adams (#2) and John Quincy Adams (#6) were born in Quincy. Both are interred, with their wives (see plaque) in the United First Parish Church seen below. Terrific place to explore American history.
Haverhill - Basiliere Bridge spanning the Merrimack River. We walked the Bradford Rail Trail on the south side of the river. As a major shoe making city, Haverhill was known as the “Queen Slipper City”
Amesbury is the 2nd most northern city in MA. Very charming downtown, featuring restored mill architecture. Lots of nice restaurants and shops along the Powwow River which drove the town’s industry.
Salisbury - Sunday’s warm November weather was perfect for a walk on the beach. Salisbury is one of the two northernmost towns in Massachusetts.
Petersham - Hiked to the ghost town of Dana, one of 4 small villages abandoned when MA dammed the Swift River to create the massive Quabbin Reservoir. The foundations of the structures in the town common (school, church, hotel) are still visible and clearly marked.
Randolph is a Boston suburb with a “Great (big) Pond”
Athol - Here we were just a couple of Mass-holes in Athol. And how could we not stop and celebrate the very yellow ‘Laura Apartments’ complete with their own coat of arms.
Braintree - Honestly we had trouble finding anywhere interesting to walk in Braintree. So we decided to check out the office building where P&G’s sales office was located when I worked for them. Remember those long days of interviewing there Catherine Dailey? Patrick Collins it was home for you for many years! Orlando Hernandez Jr I remember sales training with you there too!
