#321- #323. Montgomery, Russell, Leverett

We were able to check off two towns on one hike. The trail up Shatterack Mountain was in Montgomery, which is a tiny town of 800. The trip down the mountain took us around to Russell (#322) where we found a small brook with a series of waterfalls. The ridge we came down was full of marble despoits. Check out the closeup in the Russell pic.
Up the Pioneer Valley in Leverett (#323) we explored the New England Peace Pagoda. Built in 1985 it was the first of its kind in North America to be built by the Buddhist monastic order called Nipponzan Myohoji. It requires a walk up a hill and there are lots of gardens as well.
